Underbelief

I have broken faith with Love
and what lies bleeding, now unrecognisable
against a bleak backdrop
gnarled and twisted, carelessly discarded

meaning has slipped through my fingers
grasping at grains of reality
falling thunderously to the ground
I stare at the ruins, empty

and once so sure, I now regret
the arrogance of my understanding
void of truth, merciless in my apathy
staggering backwards, shockingly wrong

and she with me now courts disgust
broken and misused, victims all
of this charlatan’s charade, chastised
no mercy left to collect the bitter remains

misjugding at every opportunity, I failed
thinking, presuming my mastery
in one motion she revealed herself
glorious beyond my machinations
