Another Dawn

the light announces the endless arrival
festive and silent, the first furative rays
creep forth upon the concrete stairs
shades of graduated grey greet the day

still winds carry distant tremblings
the cold sweat of night’s demise
gives way to traffic, fetid yawning
diesel hangs languid in the air

into sight spring endless details
tumbling into focus out of darkness
now demanding notice, screaming greens
a thousand brightly lit illusionary things

stretched thin, sheer upon the horizon
dusty bands of barren clouds, filter
the revealed obscured landscape
heaved together under the sorrel sky
